Max result for Max Christensen
Fantastic title clincher for Danish Subaru drivers

Danish rally drivers Max Christensen and Ole Frederiksen took their Subaru Impreza WRX to an impressive result in the Danish Rally Championship final on the remote and hilly island of Bornholm. Not only did they conquer the Group N Cup for standard production cars, they even took second place in the Danish 4WD Championship, where the Group N cars faced strong competition from Super 2000 rally cars.

After an eight-month battle, the Subaru crew fought down three Peugeot 207 Super 2000 cars and a Fiat Punto Grande Super 2000 car, only to give way to a single Peugeot Super 2000.

"I don't think we could have done much more than we did," said the newly-crowned Group N winner Max Christensen on the podium after a tough rally.

"The wet conditions in the morning were optimal for us and provided a good opportunity to stretch out an overall lead, so we drove with maximum attack on the very demanding stages," he added.

Still, after five out of twelve special stages, Max Christensen and Ole Frederiksen held the overall lead in the Danboring Rally, and only when the roads began to dry out did they have to give way to the 4WD Championship-winning Peugeot Super 2000.

"It is utopian to think you can go faster than a Super 2000 car when the roads are dry. So we took the safe option and went for the Group N Cup and second place in the 4WD Championship," Max Christensen adds.

Starting out on the Danboring Rally, Max Christensen and Ole Frederiksen were placed second in the Group N Cup, but the very high speeds among the three Group N title contenders, the two others being Mitsubishi Lancers crews, forced one to crash and the other to retire with a broken engine, leaving the road free for Christensen and Frederiksen.

This was a bit of a disappointment for experienced co-driver Ole Frederiksen:
"It is always an anti-climax when you lose your best competitors early on in a rally. We had been really looking forward to a tough battle, and I am convinced we would have come out on top anyway. So then we concentrated on cementing second place in the 4WD Championship instead," he reflects.

The newly-crowned Group N champs still don't know what 2013 will bring.
"My Subaru has done immaculately well all season, causing absolutely no problems at all. We will now look at the regulations for next year once they are published, and then decide what to do," Max Christensen evaluates after a highly competitive season.
